Reads Moving Systems of Carolina, Inc., a proud agent of Atlas Van Lines, began its journey in the moving and storage industry in 1955. Based originally in Charleston, SC as Palmetto Moving with just a few trucks, Reads built a strong foundation based on attention to customers' needs and a commitment to quality service. Our approach to delivering a consistently superior level of service is assured through our well-trained employees, our fleet of trucks and equipment, and both Reads locations, which oversee every personal move and corporate relocation right down to the smallest detail. At Reads, we go the extra mile for our clients because we believe the details and processes of any size move truly matter. From inspecting items delivered to our front door for clients to surveying each move to ensure our pricing remains competitive, our number one goal is customer satisfaction.
Our employees go through vigorous on-the-job training to ensure our customers receive the best care possible. We hold several certifications that back up our commitment to setting the standard in the industry, because that matters to us. As a family-owned business dating back to 1955, we treat every move and customer interaction with an extended amount of dignity and care. Serious about security, we only hire team members who meet tough Atlas requirements, and background screening for all Professional Van Operators (PVOs) and crew members is a must. You can rest assured that your valuables and your home are safe in our hands. This was a military assigned storage. Awful experience! I put half my belongings in storage because I wasn’t going to be gone long. One year later, upon receiving my shipment, I discovered many missing items. A table, a ladder with a stenciled name on it, and 9 boxes of miscellaneous belongings, mostly dishware, kitchen items and power tools, many things collected over 30 years of living overseas and many items that were inherited from my mother. All irreplaceable . I was told that my belongings were accidentally placed in containers with other people’s things!! Chad Harvey, the supervisor, will not return my calls or update me on the status of my items. (I’ve been assured by the secretary that they are looking. I’m not hopeful.) I don’t understand why the military continues to contract a company that has displayed such incompetence over and over.

Mike and Matt moved us to Destin FL… they were very professional and nothing was broke besides 1 small landscape piece. They put every box in the room they was labeled for. They also packed us in Charleston and was on time and on point for the entire move… I will fly them in to have them move us again that is now the 3 rd time they have moved me in 4 years.. Both Mike and Matt bust there asses the entire move…. Thank you both for making it all easy…..

I was forced to use this company for my military move. The movers placed all of my belongings in one room and did not take any of the trash or boxes with them like they were specifically told. The workers were more concerned with leaving before lunch than actually doing a quality job. None of my furniture was assembled which they were also specifically contracted to do as well. When offered the chance to make it right they strung me and my wife along for an entire day, refusing to give a time window when they would come, expecting us to stay home all day, and after all of that they did not show up on that day. I was then told that they would come back on Monday, expecting me to live with their mess for the entire weekend. If I could give 0 stars I would. I am a mid grade officer for the Navy and I will do my best to ensure they never get another contract for our base so that none of my sailors have to go through what my wife and I did. Attached photo is how they “delivered” all of our belongings.

Moving your household goods is always a risk because we don't move often.
Reads Moving Systems, Summerville, SC was recommended to me by a former employee. I think it's a good sign of a reliable company when a former employee recommends their former employer.
Our move was better than expected. First John M. visited our home to estimate materials, time and equipment, and personnel required for the move. His estimation was spot on. The crew worked hard but carefully. Nothing broken on delivery and completed early which saved me some money!!
I can recommend Reads Moving Systems, Summerville, SC without reservation.
