We worked with Alexander’s Mobility for an interstate move on the West Coast, from Oregon to California. We have made multiple full-service interstate moves with other companies over the years as two professionals. We specifically worked with Tamara Ghormley. From the start, communication was poor and at times we were deceived, but we had been referred by an employer offering reimbursement so we went ahead with the process, and the employer chose Alexanders/Atlas at the last moment due to availability. To start, the quote was inflated, likely due to the use of a broker and employer coverage for the move, compared to other national movers. But, we had little control. Tamara was initially cordial but as the process unfolded, she became deceptive and harder to reach. While we were told that our move would be on a semi, as we had access, then moved directly, movers showed up with two 26 foot rented trucks. The driver was on his phone the whole time, not paying attention to labeling or inventory, making personal calls, etc. Halfway through loading, we learned that our belongings were to be moved and unloaded to a warehouse in Portland, 3 hours away, then re-loaded, and potentially offloaded again from the destination warehouse. This wasn’t disclosed to us, but what were we supposed to do with an imminent closing of our home and half our belongings loaded? Tamara became less and less helpful, and we ultimately ended up having to change our entire move plans/timing upon arrival due to their lack of transparency and communication on both ends. Upon arrival, the driver said that they have “inventoried” our items in the warehouse. But, they somehow only checked off about 360 of the over 400 items. They obviously never checked. Tamara was defensive, lied about their process and accountability and then ghosted us. Needless to say, it was a stressful and awful experience for our family and we wouldn’t recommend Alexander’s or Atlas in the future. We had such great experiences with other full service moves, this was a huge disappointment.
Must check in at the entrance for delivery or pick up before the gate there’s is door on your left side when you enter into the facility they will advise you where you go next over all it was great experience very friendly office staff

Testimonial & 5-Star Review for Melissa Luke
I am delighted to share my wholehearted recommendation for Melissa Luke, Account Manager at Alexander’s International Movers Company. Melissa recently assisted my son with his move from Salt Lake City to Honolulu, and the entire process was seamless thanks to her exceptional professionalism and care.
From the very first interaction, Melissa was responsive, prompt, and incredibly helpful. She handled every detail with ease, kept us informed at every step, and made what could have been a stressful transition feel effortless. Her ability to anticipate needs, provide solutions quickly, and communicate clearly made all the difference.
Melissa is not only knowledgeable and efficient, but she also brings a personal touch that shows she truly cares about her clients. It is rare to find someone who combines competence and warmth so naturally.
If you are looking for someone who is amazing, fabulous, and dedicated to ensuring a smooth international move, I cannot recommend Melissa highly enough. She deserves every bit of a five-star rating for her outstanding work.
Sincerely, Louise, Alexander & Mark Barnard.
I’ve moved over 17 times—seven of those were interstate moves—so I’ve seen a wide range of moving company experiences. I was hesitant to use Alexander’s Mobility Services again after a previous move in California left us with damaged furniture and a lost 6’ mirror. But this recent move from Vancouver, WA to Minneapolis, MN went significantly better.
The Good:
No property damage at either the origin or destination.
Most items arrived safely.
We had only a few minor claims, and reimbursement was fast and hassle-free.
Tips for a Smooth Move:
If you're planning a move with Alexander’s—or any professional mover—here are my recommendations based on experience:
1. Documentation Is Everything
Take photos of all items before they’re packed (especially high-value or fragile pieces).
Photograph your home before movers arrive to document the condition.
Walk through the property after the move to check for any damage.
2. Communicate Clearly
Let them know how you want your items handled. For example, I asked that all boxes be taped in an "H" pattern on all open edges. One packer was doing it differently, so I asked the driver to address it—and it was immediately corrected.
Don’t be afraid to speak up if something seems off. Most crews are responsive to respectful direction.
3. Ask Key Questions Beforehand
These details matter—ask your coordinator:
Will my items go directly to the destination, or will they be stored?
Will the same crew deliver that packed the truck?
Will my items be placed in vaults, and how many times will they be handled?
Should I have fragile electronics (like TVs) crated by an outside vendor to ensure warranty coverage?
4. Protect Yourself
Take photos of your TV and other electronics turned on and working, ideally with the movers in the shot for time-stamping.
Read the contract carefully. Understand liability coverage and whether additional insurance is needed.
Know the value of your belongings—don't guess!
5. Respect the Crew
Movers work incredibly hard, often without seeing a big share of what you’re paying.
A little courtesy goes a long way. Treat them well and you’ll usually see that respect returned in how they handle your belongings.
6. Prepare for the Dirty Truth
Moving is messy—dust, dirt, and debris will find their way into everything.
Consider packing your most delicate or personal items yourself. Possibly purchase some or all of your own moving pads for furniture you care deeply about.
Have cleaning supplies ready for when your items arrive.
Final Thoughts:
Most large moving companies operate in similar ways—they subcontract or use rotating labor crews and vary little in process. What makes the difference is how well you prepare and how clearly you communicate your expectations.
Alexander’s did a much better job this time around, and while no move is perfect, ours was handled fairly and professionally. If you're organized, proactive, and assertive (but respectful), you’ll increase your chances of a smoother move—no matter which company you choose.
Quick note: I was initially concerned when I heard my items would be packed into "vaults" (like PODS) and shipped on a truck. But after going through it, I’d say vaults aren’t bad! Your belongings stay separate from others’ and the vaults are sealed, so nothing mysteriously disappears. Just be sure to ask how long your items will be stored and, if you need them delivered sooner, request it upfront—and get it in writing.
