Bus driver for Flatrock schools trip to Camp Tamarack ( John m Barnes elementary) bus 266 was TERRIBLE. Flying doing 70 in a 45. Whipping around turns on the dirt road on the way there. On the way back to the school he cut off THREE cars and almost hit one of the chaperones that was following the bus in their own vehicle. They proceeded to ride the back of the chaperones vehicle blowing the horn as if they were doing something wrong. My child and almost 40 others were on that bus and I am absolutely disgusted with the way he drove with these kids on the bus.

I had a week long trip that i just got back from with National Trails. I just wanna give a huge shoutout to Shantel for being the absolute best bus driver a person could ever be, I hope she sees this and i want her to know that she is going to go many Great places, I’m upset that we had to switch her out with someone else as i do believe they can only drive for a certain amount of time. But i love her and i hope that she goes to great lenghts, Shantel if you see this, You are the GOAT!

Anairion has been our driver on the 8th grade DC school trip this week and she is INCREDIBLE. She is kind, professional, knowledgeable about the route, and her driving skills are top notch. If I have an opportunity to use National Trails again I WILL personally request her! Thank you, Anairion, for leading our bus caravan and keeping us safe. We appreciate you.

We use National Trails quite often with our university sports team. On our recent trip to Louisville (April 23-25, 2026), our driver, Tom King, went above and beyond to make sure our team had what we needed. Flexibility of schedule is one of the most important things for us, sure to the nature of our sport, and not every driver understands that. Tom made it very clear from the beginning that he was there to make sure we had what we needed, and he followed through

While we completed the trip, the experience included multiple serious issues related to both mechanical reliability and driver professionalism that significantly impacted our group. First, the bus experienced repeated mechanical failures throughout the trip. On Day 1 (Sunday, March 29), we were forced to stop multiple times due to the A/C not functioning and the engine light coming on. These delays required us to adjust our itinerary. While the A/C appeared to be repaired the following day, issues persisted. On Thursday, April 2, the engine shut off while we were en route to a scheduled and prepaid activity, requiring us to pull over and forcing me to adjust our reservation in real time to avoid financial loss. On Friday, April 3, the A/C failed again during our drive to Tallahassee, creating an uncomfortable environment for our students. As a temporary solution, we were instructed to open emergency exits, which was not sufficient. Ultimately, a replacement bus was sent on Saturday, which underscores that the original vehicle was not in suitable condition for continued operation—particularly given that we were transporting youth. In addition to the mechanical concerns, the driver’s professionalism became a significant issue beginning Wednesday, April 1, and escalated over time. This included rude interactions with campus personnel, visible frustration expressed through loud sighing and huffing while driving, and dismissive communication when concerns were raised. That evening at our hotel (SpringHill Suites, Locust Grove, GA), the driver became insistent and disruptive regarding his room assignment, demanding a first-floor room and pressuring me to relocate students who had already settled in for the night. In order to de-escalate the situation, I was forced to ask students to leave their rooms and switch accommodations, which was both inappropriate and avoidable. The following day, the driver’s behavior continued to impact the experience. He complained about rest requirements despite having sufficient time to meet compliance standards, refused to assist with loading luggage after previously doing so, and spoke to staff and students in a manner that was not aligned with professional expectations. At one point, while I was addressing a leak from the bus onto students, he raised his voice at me in front of the group, instructing me to sit down. This was particularly concerning given that I was responding to a situation caused by the condition of the bus itself. Additionally, the driver chose to express complaints about scheduling and compliance concerns to members of my team and in front of students, rather than communicating directly and appropriately with me. These concerns were directly tied to delays caused by the bus’s mechanical issues. Despite these challenges, I maintained professionalism throughout the trip, ensured the safety and continuity of the experience for our students, and continued to accommodate the driver appropriately. They called me today to apologize, refused to offer a refund of any kind, but offered a credit toward a future booking. We will never use them again. Proceed with caution.
