I’m not one for posting online reviews and will do so only when I feel it’s warranted. In the case of John Palmer Moving & Storage a review is definitely warranted.
Mom and dad were born, raised, and lived in the in the Boston area their entire lives. We lost mom in March 2024 and since then dad sold the family house after 54 years and moved into the local independent living community in town where mom and dad had lived since 1971. This was May 2025. Fast forward to September 2025 and talking to dad about his flight reservations to stay with us for the winter in California. Dad informed me in late September that this would be a one way trip. Once he arrived in November that was it and he’d be living with us which was always the plan.
With dad’s news, it set a scramble to figure out how best to make this happen. I got a referral from dad’s realtor and a cousin, both recommending John Palmer without any hesitation. Based on my interaction with the John Palmer team from the first call to receiving dad’s household goods in California I can see why they were recommended to us.
My first contact was with Nick. He listened to my needs, concerns for dad given the magnitude of the decision at 87, and my expectations. Nick made an appointment with dad to go over and see the apartment. With this visit he compiled a rough inventory, provided an initial assessment of the moving logistics, and gave us a timeline for what we could expect. While dad had done a fair amount of downsizing prior to the house sale in May there were a few family furniture pieces that would require “kid gloves” care; Nick was confident and assured us that the family items would be taken care of without incident. And when the items were delivered to California they were just as they had been at dad’s apartment.
We set the date for November 14 to pack up dad’s apartment. That Friday, Naicy, Ivan, and Miguel arrived a little before the appointed time. We walked through the community logistics, showed them the items to be packed, wrapped, and shipped to California, items and being donated to HGRM, and then they got to business. Naicy, Ivan, and Miguel worked non-stop from the time they arrived to their departure after the last piece was loaded into the back of the moving van. All in all, I think they were onsite for four hours which was much less time than expected. Naicy, Ivan, and Miguel were efficient, polite, professional, and treated all dad’s items being packed as if they were their own.
Dad’s items arrived California in early December and were delivered to the house shortly thereafter, consistent with what we had discussed. While dad’s move timeline was accelerated from what had initially been discussed, I could not have asked for an easier process, pack out, and shipping. More than that, I could not have done this without the help of the entire John Palmer team. Whether within the Boston area or across country, John Palmer Moving & Storage should be on the top of your first call if you have a planned move. Moving isn’t fun but John Palmer will definitely make your next move as easy and stress free as possible. You won’t be disappointed.

I can't tell how great these guys were. I had been trying to get a couch moved and everything kept falling through! I reached a person at Palmer Moving right away, made an appointment within two days the couch was moved!! The guys who came to move it were professional, very efficient and really nice guys. The price was cheaper than the other places I tried too. Everyone should use John Palmer Moving and Storage. I am so appreciative of them every step of the way!!

We used John Palmer in our move from Boston to Acton. This was a trickier move as some items were moving with us to the next house, and others were going into storage with John Palmer. The moving team was INCREDIBLE. My husband and I cannot say enough positive things about our moving guys: Miguel, Scotty, Alex, and Edwin. They were so professional, hard working, kind, and simply so enjoyable to work with! They were able to organize what was going where without any mixups. They have truly set a high bar for any future moves, and I hope we can work with them again!
The only challenge we had with John Palmer was regarding the coordination of moving a glass top table. As required by John Palmer, we paid an additional fee for the glass top to be crated by a third party John Palmer coordinated, but no one ever came to uncrate it, which was included in the cost. After waiting a few days, we eventually did this ourselves and assembled the table. While we did request a reimbursement of a portion of what we paid for the crating service, it was not met. This small portion aside, it was a really great move, and we would recommend John Palmer!
