  ⭐ 1-Star Review I would not recommend Michael Trotter or Pacific Cascade Legal based on my experience with this estate. I was a beneficiary and had legitimate questions about the validity of the will, the distribution of assets, and how the estate was being administered. Instead of receiving clear answers or an itemized accounting, I felt that the beneficiaries were shut out, my concerns were dismissed, and I was treated as though I had no right to question what was happening. There were multiple occasions where I believe the will was not being followed until I specifically pointed out what the will actually said. For example, when my uncle passed away, the will specifically provided for his share to pass to me under certain circumstances. I was initially told that his share would simply be put back into the estate and redistributed. I had to point out the actual language of the will before that was corrected. Had I not spoken up, I believe I would have received substantially less than what the will provided. There were also serious questions regarding my great-uncle's coin collection. The will specifically addressed U.S. silver coins, while I knew there were also other coins, including gold and Canadian coins. When I questioned what happened to those assets, the attorney apparently relied on my cousin's statement that there were no other coins rather than meaningfully investigating the issue. I was never provided a satisfactory accounting of those assets. I also questioned whether my great-uncle was mentally competent when the will was created and whether he actually understood what he was signing. Those concerns were dismissed rather than meaningfully investigated. In my view, if there were legitimate questions about the validity of the will, they should have been taken seriously rather than simply proceeding as though everything was unquestionable. Before Mr. Trotter became involved, another attorney, Nick Alexander, had represented the estate and ultimately withdrew. Mr. Trotter later characterized my communications with Mr. Alexander as harassment and suggested that my actions contributed to his withdrawal. I cannot know the exact reason Mr. Alexander withdrew, so I will not claim to know what happened behind the scenes. What I do know is that I was asking questions about an estate in which I was a beneficiary. My experience with Mr. Trotter was very different. When I continued asking questions about the estate, assets, and money that I had been told was being held back for possible expenses or additional distribution, I received conflicting information. I also felt that Mr. Trotter used intimidating and threatening language, including threats of potential legal action, rather than addressing my concerns. My criticism is not that an attorney was required to take my side. I understand that an attorney represents their client. My criticism is that I expected professionalism, transparency, and a willingness to address legitimate questions from a beneficiary. Instead, I felt dismissed, intimidated, and shut out. Ultimately, I believe the estate was not handled in a way that properly honored either my great-uncle's wishes or even the terms of the will itself. I believe important questions about assets and the validity of the will deserved much more scrutiny than they received. Based on my personal experience, I found Mr. Trotter to be unprofessional, dismissive, and untrustworthy. I would not recommend Michael Trotter or Pacific Cascade Legal to anyone dealing with a complicated estate where beneficiaries expect transparency, communication, and proper administration.

  I had a free consultation with a attorney about step parent adoption in Washington and she told me she could not answer any of my questions. I have spoke with a few other attorneys and they answered all my legal questions with no issues. Wasted 10 minutes of my time asking if I wanted to hire her. Don't recommend.

  Summarizing just how wonderful, professional, thorough, and attentive attorney Michael Trotter and his legal assistant, Missy Boyd, are is no easy task. From the very beginning, they took on a challenging probate matter and turned what felt overwhelming into a smooth, manageable process. Their level of thoroughness is truly exceptional. They don’t miss a single detail. One of the best sentences to describe Michael is this "if it’s important to you, it’s important to him". That level of respect and attentiveness is rare. He took the time to thoughtfully explain situations in layman terms, and when something may not have been in the best interest of the estate, he communicated it with me using care and clarity while still fully respecting and supporting my final decision without judgement. What sets Michael apart from many attorneys is that he never assumed what should matter to me. He treated every concern as valid and worthy of attention. His ability to read between the lines and identify opportunities or strategies that improve outcomes is an impressive skill and a true asset to his clients. That's a rarity but shows how much time he took with my situation and will do that for you as well. Michael and Missy are not only highly competent, they are genuinely kind people. After working with them for over 10 months by phone, meeting them in person only reinforced how authentic and sincere they are. While some have left ridiculous comments on legal costs, it’s important to recognize that quality legal representation is an investment! That holds true across the board of any legal services. If you’re going to invest in legal services, it should be with someone who delivers real results, and that is exactly what you get with Michael Trotter and Missy Boyd. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for knowledgeable, compassionate, and results driven legal representation!
