- BMBeb MMay 24, 20241.0They claim to know solar and wind but do they really? They threw up a serious red flag IN MY OPINION. As a land owner you don't really know if an attorney is good in contract negotiation with an energy company unless you have a basis of comparison. And Wetsel didn't want that. I reached out to this firm to represent my family in negotiations with a renewable energy development company. The renewable company was working with myself and another land owner. That land owner wanted to keep his family attorney involved in the contract review process because he had a lifetime of trust with that attorney. I didn't have a problem with that, but Wetsel did. After making me wait several days, he directed his assistant to tell me via email that they would not represent me since another attorney was involved for the other land owner. Wetsel wanted it all or not at all. That's what I understood from their email. So I hired another attorney out of San Antonio who's a leader in Solar, Wind, and Royalties. He gladly welcomed the perspective of another counselor and together they nailed down a great deal and contract. (I know because I stay involved in the review process and saw what they did for us.) Regarding Wetsel, I've never had an attorney refuse to represent me because they had to collaborate with another attorney representing another party. That's just insane. What were they afraid of? Would another attorney perhaps shed light on a lack of knowledge? I honestly don't know. But it was a red flag and I'm glad I avoided it. Response to Wetsel's years-late response. Your email was very specific that you would NOT work with other counsel. You listed NONE of the "conflict" concerns that you are claiming now. It seems to me your reply to this review had more careful "consideration" than your email. Please... In my opinion, you're just trying to whitewash this situation now. The fact that I wrote this review years ago and you are just now responding? This really reinforces the untimely response that I was talking about. Look at the other review where someone points out you don't communicate to her. It's not just me.
