  I was involved in a nightmare self defense shooting here in rural west Texas that turned into a charge of first degree premeditated murder. I needed help, and so I called Bennett & Secrest. A man of profound empathy, Todd and I got to know one another very well. And Todd got to know my case so thoroughly that in the end he understood every aspect of it better than anyone including the experts, and most importantly the prosecution ever could: the evidence, the psychology, the ballistics, the timing, the perfect storm of events that culminated into moments that could have very well been my last. He was able to show and help me understand things that were previously unknown to me. He was a man with a lamp guiding me through the darkness. He never doubted me for a moment, his total belief in my innocence never wavered. His dedication, confidence and razor sharp competence throughout the whole ordeal carried the day and that wry smile carried me through. In the end he got my case dismissed with prejudice. Todd got me justice. And I have no doubt that I am here today, free and with my head held high because of him. Thank you Todd and Mac, you guys are heroes.
