  I hired Melissa Fiksdal to represent me in a highly emotional family court matter and left feeling deeply disappointed by both the communication and the representation I received. Throughout the case, I often felt uninformed about important developments and had difficulty getting clear answers regarding strategy, billing, and next steps. After the hearing, more than a month passed without any meaningful discussion regarding the court’s ruling, the proposed stipulations, or the status of my case. What ultimately destroyed my confidence was learning through correspondence with the opposing party that Melissa was withdrawing from my representation before she had communicated that decision directly to me. As the client, I should not have to learn important information about my own case through communications sent to the other side. I have also had to repeatedly request my file, billing records, and a final accounting of fees. As of this review, I remain frustrated by the lack of communication and transparency. Family court cases are some of the most important and emotionally difficult matters a person will ever face. Unfortunately, I did not feel informed, supported, or effectively represented during mine. Based on my experience, I would not hire this attorney again.
