  In 1995, after my father's death, I became guardian/conservator of my alzheimer-afflicted mother. I was told by an Idaho Court to take care of my mother (I did) and to not steal any of her assets (I didn't). She passed away in 2000 and probate simply involved squaring with a County Court (in Idaho) and equally distributing assets to the siblings. In latter 2023, in the middle of an interstate move (and house sale/purchase) I got word my younger brother had suffered a series of strokes and had been deemed "Incompetent" and committed to a care facility in Northern Virginia. He had been estranged from the family following return from service in Viet Nam. After the move to Oregon, I drove to Virginia and found his affairs in complete shambles. I gathered as much as I could find in the time available and started guardian/conservator proceedings with the first legal firm that would answer my calls. I'll just say I was surprised how things had changed since 1995. In May of 2024 I was referred to Thorp, Purdy et al by a CPA familiar with the firm to begin transferring the G/C from Virginia to Oregon. Working with Megan Withroder and Jordan Burroughs, compared with the Virginia firm, was like climbing out of the dark and into the light. We got my brother to Oregon in December of 2024. Unfortunately, he took a fall and died the following September, but was as happy as a clam being around family again. We're at the end of Probate now...thanks to Megan and the crew.

  I recently needed to update my estate plans after my partner passed away. Megan Withroder was very helpful in assisting me with closing our shared estate and creating a trust for me. She also handled some legal matters and ensured that all the assets were transferred to me. Megan listened to my goals and the things that mattered to me most in helping me move forward in establishing my trust and planned giving plans.   As an associate with Thorp, Purdy, Jewett, Urness and Wilkinson, PC, my attorney, Megan Withroder and her team was great to work with following the death of my husband. They were prompt and responsive to my questions and concerns. They were organized and kept me informed of important deadlines and updated with probate progress reports.   Attorney Megan Withroder failed to spell my name correctly on a legal estate document, nor has she returned phone calls in my efforts to talk with her about correcting her mistake. I paid her fee which was about $700 for her to do a simple task regarding an estate document. After leaving a message, I had to call again today which was 1 1/2 weeks later. I was turned over to a paralegal who promised to reissue the trust document with my name spelled correctly. However attorney Megan Withroder has not called me back nor have my estate documents been returned as requested.
