Attorney Bullard and the team she works with are absolutely incredible. The impact their hard work has had on my life exceeds the financial relief I was initially seeking when I reached out to them 2 years ago with a case I had been unsuccessfully attempting to handle by myself for a year. This team heard every concern I had, every wish I had for my family, every hardship I had endured to get where I was, and made sure that by the end of this I had been presented with such a good fight that even if I was not successful, I would have left court knowing I was represented by the best and received the best possible outcome I COULD get. The time and money I spent trusting them with my family’s case has ended up being one of the best investments I’ve ever made in us. While I hope the need for their services never arises in my future, I will always come to them first with any issue I face in the future and I will always take into account the hard work they put into my family when I count the costs of raising a family that thrives.

Case Dismissed, before I even could open my mouth! Mrs. Bullard and her staff are the best law firm in GA hands down! Very intelligent and knowledgeable when it comes to the law and makes you feel like family when they’re representing you on your case. I’d hate to be the opposing party! They truly helped me on the start of this journey for me getting 50/50 custody of my babies back here in AL. Thanks again McGuire & Bullard law firm!

Attorney Bullard helped my household with a family law situation concerning child support and custody. She was very education in describing legal procedure, answered limitless questions, and did not over promise me as a client concerning the risks and possibilities. She and her office helped me through the stress involved in litigation that lasted almost 2 years and yeilded a favorable outcome. I am forever grateful to her and her support staff.

Frequently Asked Questions About The Law Offices of McGuire & Bullard

What is the process for filing for divorce?

The divorce filing process begins when one spouse, known as the petitioner, submits a divorce petition to the court. This document outlines the reasons for divorce and any requests regarding child custody, support, or property division. The other spouse, referred to as the respondent, is then served with the petition and given an opportunity to respond. Following this, the process may involve negotiations, mediation, or court hearings to resolve matters such as asset distribution, alimony, and child custody arrangements. If the spouses can't reach an agreement, a judge will make decisions on these issues based on relevant laws and the children's best interests, if applicable.

How is child custody determined?

Child custody decisions are primarily based on what's best for the child. Courts consider various factors, including the child's age, health, and emotional bonds with each parent. They also evaluate each parent's ability to provide a stable home and meet the child's physical and emotional needs. Any history of abuse or neglect is taken into account as well. Custody can be awarded jointly, where both parents share responsibilities, or solely to one parent, with various arrangements for visitation and parenting time.
