  I was the opposing party in a family-law matter in which Katharine Teuschler represented my former wife. I was not Ms. Teuschler's client, and this review is based solely on my personal experience and observations during that litigation. In my case, Ms. Teuschler filed multiple ex parte applications that were denied. I also received repeated requests for information that I believed had already been provided, adding time and expense to an already difficult process. The case was litigated far more extensively than I believed was necessary. Issues that I thought could have been resolved through productive settlement discussions instead proceeded toward hearings or trial. Communications between counsel frequently appeared unproductive, and I was disappointed by the lack of meaningful progress toward a resolution. I also received documents from her office that contained incorrect employer names and other apparent drafting or proofreading errors. These mistakes caused me concern about the level of attention being given to the matter. There are several additional concerns based on my personal experience that I intend to raise through appropriate professional channels. Litigation is inherently contentious, and I recognize that an attorney's responsibility is to advocate for her own client. Nevertheless, based on my personal experience as the opposing party, my opinion of Ms. Teuschler's professionalism, attention to detail, and approach to resolving disputes is strongly negative.
