  I never post reviews, but I’m sharing this so others can make informed decisions. I hired this firm for an uncontested divorce. My experience involved repeated clerical errors, poor communication, and a lack of accountability when concerns were raised. I completed my requested paperwork promptly, but some documents were not reviewed for months and became outdated, creating additional work for me. Several important items were also handled at the last possible moment, which created unnecessary stress and confusion. Among the issues: documents filed with the court included my first name misspelled, the judgment was returned by the court for correction twice, and my prior last name was not restored in the final judgment despite me raising that issue during the case. These are only a few examples of errors I identified. After finding these and other issues, I reached out directly and requesting an opportunity to review with the attorney. I was told in writing that a meeting was not necessary and that the errors were considered “alleged.” That was when I chose to share my experience publicly. I understand legal matters can be complex, but accuracy and communication matter. I hope sharing this helps someone else make an informed choice.

  Zero stars. Extremely unprofessional and clearly money-driven. What should have been a straightforward divorce ended up costing thousands more than anticipated and nearly two years of my life. Layton acted without my authorization at a critical moment, creating unnecessary chaos with my ex‑spouse and reigniting conflict after we had verbally agreed to a settlement. There was never any meaningful acknowledgment of the role his actions played in derailing the process—understandable, perhaps, given how serious this misstep was. When I raised these concerns, Layton abruptly dropped my representation with no explanation and very little time for me to determine next steps in an already fragile situation. After I requested and paid what I was told was my final balance, I was shocked to receive an additional bill 2 month later, completely out of nowhere. During our final in‑person meeting to discuss the unexpected charges , while I remained calm, Layton became defensive and hostile, repeatedly telling us to “get out of his office.” This behavior was shocking and deeply unprofessional. His handling of my case showed a complete lack of professionalism, integrity, and basic decency. I strongly warn anyone considering working with him.

  Mr. Layton was a great choice for myself. Extremely intelligent, does his research, and communicates clearly. He is professional both in and out of court. I would refer him to anyone who needs help with their legal issues.
