Erika Isard was exactly the attorney we needed in an incredibly stressful family law case. She kept us grounded from beginning to end, truly looked out for the best interest of my son, and never lost sight of what actually mattered.
What sets Erika apart is that she doesn’t try to win with theatrics or emotional storytelling. She builds a case with evidence.
She made sure everything we presented could be supported: documentation, email records, organized timelines, expert testimony and actual evidence. She knew the facts of our case inside and out, knew what needed to be proven, and made sure we were prepared to prove it.
That became especially important because the other side, despite also being represented by counsel, relied heavily on emotional narratives, accusations and claims that were not supported by evidence. Erika never allowed those accusations to simply hang in the air. We responded to them thoroughly, strategically and with documentation. Where they had allegations, we had records. Where they had a version of events, we had emails, timelines, expert witnesses and evidence.
She understands family law extremely well, but just as importantly, she understands how family court actually works. She knew what our particular judge cared about, what would be persuasive, what needed to be addressed and what would ultimately be viewed as noise or unnecessary conflict. As a parent, that perspective is invaluable because what feels incredibly important or upsetting to you is not always what matters legally. Erika kept us focused on what it would actually take to prevail.
She also understood that the answer to an accusation in family court isn’t necessarily a louder or more emotional counterargument. It is being able to show the court, clearly and credibly, what actually happened. She made sure we could do that.
Erika was incredibly organized, prepared, thoughtful and strategic throughout the entire process. By the time we walked into court, our case was organized, supported and prepared down to the details. We ultimately received everything we had asked the court for, and I genuinely believe Erika’s preparation and evidence-based approach were a huge reason why.
That is the difference between Erika and many attorneys. She doesn’t just tell you she believes you or promise to fight for you. She makes sure you are protected by the things that actually matter in court: the truth, evidence, documentation, credible witnesses and a clear, organized record.
She knew when to push, how to respond when we were attacked, and how to keep the case centered on my son instead of allowing it to devolve into an emotional back-and-forth.
If you are dealing with a difficult custody or family law matter, I cannot recommend Erika highly enough. She is smart, strategic, exceptionally prepared, direct, ethical and incredibly good at what she does. When we walked into court, I knew our case had been built on something much stronger than emotion: it had been built on the truth, and we had the evidence to prove it.
