  I cannot recommend family law attorney Johnnie Franks Woodruff for a divorce case in Florence, Alabama, based on my personal representation experience. Throughout my Colbert County family court case, I often felt uninformed, overlooked, and uncertain about whether my interests were being fully protected. Communication was a major concern. I was not kept actively informed about important developments, including scheduled hearings, critical case decisions, and significant legal communications affecting my situation. I also experienced serious concerns regarding billing transparency and the handling of our case strategy. I was surprised by how quickly individual texts, phone calls, and brief communications added up as billable hours while I was simply trying to provide case information or obtain answers. Clients navigating a divorce in Alabama need a clear understanding from the beginning about communication expectations, what types of contact will be billed, and how they will be kept informed by their legal counsel. To be clear, this negative review is not because I am unhappy with the final outcome of my divorce. Through my own independent research, preparation, and heavy involvement in my case, I was able to reach a settlement resolution that I was comfortable accepting. My issues are strictly about the communication lack, billing transparency, and the standard of legal representation I experienced during the process. My advice to anyone interviewing this attorney in Florence is to ask highly detailed questions during your initial consultation. Make sure you fully understand how client communication will be handled, how billable time works, and how critical decisions affecting your future will be discussed with you first. Based on my experience, I would not choose this lawyer again.
