I was referred to these attorneys for an estate matter. If you’re going to use them be prepared to have your credit card ready before you speak to anyone. Including the secretary. *MUST PAY BEFORE YOU SPEAK* It’s all about the $$ all mighty dollar with this law firm. If I could do zero stars I would. I felt like I was dealing with the mob. (Specifically wanted to point out Alstin ((Gopher)) who charges $125 just to ask a question. So unprofessional, hung up on me, screamed at me and was overall very disrespectful and rude. And he asked for a credit card before I even talked to Nicole.)
Responding to the response: How kind of you to send an apology, but it’s no excuse on how your staff treated me. And I DID pay a fee for a 2 minute conversation.

I want to be as thorough and transparent as possible in sharing my experience. Filing for divorce was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I felt extremely vulnerable and scared, and this was also the first time I had ever hired an attorney, so I had no prior experience to draw from.
I’m sharing what happened in my particular situation in hopes that it may help others know what questions to ask and what to expect. On the day I filed, I was told to reach out if I had any questions or needed anything. What I didn’t realize at the time was that every question — no matter how small — was billed. This included emails received from my spouse during the process.
Toward the end of the case, I was unsure how much longer it might take to finalize and what to expect after the initial 90-day period had passed. I tried researching online and asking friends, but every situation is different and I couldn’t find clear answers. When I eventually emailed to ask about the timeline — even noting that I hoped it could be “off the clock” — I later saw the charge reflected on my bill. At that point, I became hesitant to ask questions because the costs were already high and difficult to keep up with.
On another occasion, a significant amount of billable time was spent reviewing five years of credit card statements based on the assumption that I had moved out five years earlier, which was not accurate and not something I had stated. I had only been separated for about four months when I initially filed.
There were also smaller billing items that caught me off guard. When the assistant called to schedule an appointment, I selected a time slot while trying to coordinate around my teaching schedule. I realized immediately after hanging up that I meant to choose a different available time and called back right away to correct it, but I was billed for a second phone call. Another bill included charges related to printer issues, which I did not fully understand.
From start to finish, my divorce cost approximately $5,500. The case was uncontested, amicable, and did not require going to court, so I expected it to be relatively straightforward.
I share this not to discourage anyone, but to encourage others to ask as many questions as possible during their initial consultation — and to write them down beforehand. I was fighting panic during mine and didn’t have my thoughts organized or even know what questions to ask. Personally, I did not feel very supported throughout the process and often felt afraid and unsure.
Hopefully there won’t be a next time for me, but if there ever were, I would definitely approach the process much more informed. 🙏
Update: the timeline shared with me initially was that PA has a 90 day wait period before the paperwork could be submitted. When that time past, I was just curious as to how more much time would be needed to finalize. This was all a very emotional and overwhelming process but I felt my questions were reasonable. In the beginning after initial consultation I was hopeful with the reassurance I had been given which was reflected in my initial comments concerning the compassion I felt. Somewhere along the way I felt lost and dropped and felt afraid to ask questions. Just being honest about my experience.

I cannot say enough positive comments about Attorney Deanna Istik and the Sinatra Istik team. During my divorce, Deanna was outstanding in every possible way. From start to finish, she provided great advice, leadership, experience, fast responses to any inquiries and the feeling of knowing my interests were protected at all times. A true professional who deserves more than a 5 star rating. If you want the best representation you do not have to look any further. Thank you again Deanna an Sinatra Istik Law!

By far the most unprofessional law firm I have ever used. Failed to mention she represented the other side of my custody battle. Wouldn’t reply to me for two weeks other than a thumbs up emoji. What a joke. Frank Sinatra would be ashamed.
