I was very happy with the outcome of my case. I would definitely retain again if the need ever arises again

I have retained Everett for just under 4 years due to my custody case. I started out as a father with just about no rights and minimal custody of my child. Now, 4 years later, he was able to win me custody of my child due to unfortunate events that have been occurring these last few years. He fought every battle for me and ensured that every time I entered mediation, I left with more. Whether it be more time with my son or a better communication schedule. Over the years, he built me a solid case so that once we were ready to get in front of a judge, we were very well prepared. Even when we knew we had a good case, he still remained humble and realistic. He told me we had a chance but did not tell me what I wanted to hear but what I NEEDED to hear and I think that was very important. Never head into a court case thinking you’ve won because you may be let down. He taught me to fight the battle as best as possible and the outcome will come however the judge decides. He is a smart man who is able to adjust to the situation and meticulously analyses the opposing parties argument in order to adapt and redirect the direction of our own case. I will always recommend him and Lauren to anyone needing a custody attorney. The communication is great and they tell you the truth of the matter. 5 stars all the way. 🫡

Everett’s message is completely bogus. Which is not surprising. I was never informed he was on vacation and I absolutely never insisted on changing the call to that specific date. It was available online, so I selected it. Then, due to the difficult communication with the firm (my previous request for 7/23 was never answered, and then I was randomly assigned 8/11 ten days later and I have the emails to prove it), I messaged the firm to confirm that I chose a different date than assigned and to ask if it was ok. My request was met with an “absolutely.” Thus, as I said originally, it was confirmed twice.
Furthermore, my request wasn’t even for me, it was for my elderly step-dad. I was not upset with the advice given, as I mentioned it was clear he had not been listening to me and the advice was not applicable. I’m a successful professional with a terminal degree so I can only imagine how this man treats others. I have nothing to lose here, but the firm has a lot to lose from bad reviews, so everyone can make their own assessments on what might be truth or fiction :) especially since his fake reviews are blatantly obvious. The paralegal is listed on the website.

A warning to all who are considering working with this firm. I just had a call with Everett himself and it was the rudest, most unprofessional call I have ever experienced.
The call only lasted 13 minutes because, from the first moment, it was clear he was frankly annoyed to take the call and he spoke to me curtly and in an extremely patronizing tone. After I explained the reasons for the call, he minimally laid out an options but did not explain anything that he was saying. He spoke as if I should just know the nuances of the law. Beyond that, it was clear he had not been listening to me as he laid out options that did not apply to the situation. Accordingly, it was necessary (and reasonable) for me to ask some simple follow up questions. Unfortunately, asking questions as simple as "what would be the next steps?" only exacerbated his tone, to the point where (out of self-respect) I felt the need to request that he please stop speaking to me in that manner. To this request he responded:
"I am on vacation and I took the time for this call, so if you don't like my tone then you don't have to talk to me."
To me, this was not only unbelievably unprofessional, but essentially confirmed that he was annoyed to speak with me from the beginning.
I will let everyone know that this appointment time was, of course, available online, not a special request, and it was confirmed 2x - once automatically and once specifically via the paralegal. This all doesn't even go into the difficulty scheduling an appointment and the poor communication from the firm in the first place. Regardless, I hope this is helpful to anyone considering seeking their counsel.
Oh and, finally, the review below from the person with the initials LS - that is his employee - his paralegal with whom I spoke! So I can only imagine how many of these google reviews are fake.

CALLED THIS MORNING AT 11:56AM TUESDAY 5/27/25
They answered her law office. I said hello is this E.C lawyer office? She replied its somebody, Cook lawyer.... i said ok yea I believe that's who Im tryna get in contact with. And before I could say anything else she rudely said can I help you with anything! The tone in her voice sent me to another lawyer because im under enough stress, and for someone to talk to me rudely and basically rushing me to speak is something I will not pay to have done to me. No thanks! Plenty of other lawyers who have better conduct when talking to a paying customer.
