  I became overwhelmed being entrusted by the courts and family to care for my younger sibling and all of his affairs.   I was so fortunate to find the NY Elder Law Group. My father is homebound and has dementia as well as other underlying medical issues. I requested an increase in hours from his insurance company only to receive denial after denial after denial. Until they finally increased his 7 hour shift to 8 hours and 8 hours increased to 12 hours, of which they told me they could not increase his hours any more because he reached his maximum amount of hours. I started to give up. I believed it when they said my father reached his maximum HHA hours. Until one day I seen a webinar presented by Lori Somekh. Lori explained in laymen terms the truth and myths about Medicaid and homecare and what a person is truly entitled to. This webinar offers valuable information. In watching the video I realized that most of what she was saying relates to my fathers needs and I am grateful to say that both Lori and her paralegal Reka dedicated themselves to getting the hours my father needs. Each time I contacted the NY Elder Law Group, I was always reassured that my father is entitled to a two 12 hour split shift based on his medical history and current medical issues. I am so fortunate to have had Lori and Reka work on my fathers case and get him the hours he needs. It was only through the NY Elder Law Group that such a blessing could have happened for my father.
