Upon entering the office, we were greeted by a very rude and unprofessional receptionist who also smelled strongly of cigarettes. She informed us that we were early and instructed us to wait on “the bench.” The “bench,” which appeared to serve as the waiting area, had no space for my husband to sit because it was cluttered with boxes containing what looked like trees and army figures. The entire waiting area was filled with similar items, giving a very unprofessional impression. When we got up to ask if there was somewhere else we could both sit, the receptionist was outside smoking. We took turns sitting and waited another 30 minutes past our scheduled appointment time before finally meeting with Mr. Connors. The consultation lasted approximately 15 minutes, at which point he mentioned he had another appointment and left us with a paralegal. At that point, we decided to leave, as the entire experience did not reflect the level of professionalism we expected from a law firm. We understand that delays can happen; however, no apology or acknowledgment was given for the wait or the poor conduct of the front office staff. The unprofessional manner in which we were treated from the moment we arrived was simply unacceptable.
