  After I paid attorney Marc Alster a $700 deposit, his attitude completely changed — he suddenly claimed he couldn’t understand my English, even though we communicated perfectly during our first meeting. He raised his voice, interrupted me, and said, “Do you understand English?” which was humiliating and deeply hurtful as an immigrant. I felt taken advantage of because he knew I was in a difficult financial situation and had to leave the country soon. He refused to accept documents by email, demanded hard copies, and even told me not to use his office copier because it might “break.” I am disappointed, feel discriminated against, and strongly advise others — especially immigrants — to avoid this attorney and protect themselves.

  If I could, I would give 0 stars. I have lived in the U.S. for 10 years and have never been humiliated like this before. What attorney Marc Alster did to me was unacceptable and felt discriminatory. During our first meeting, he was polite and respectful. His assistant kindly invited me for a free consultation, and I decided to move forward with him. When I had to leave the country soon, I requested a quick follow-up visit to start the bankruptcy process. He agreed and told us to come in again. However, during the second meeting, everything changed after I paid the $700 initial deposit. As soon as he received the payment, his attitude completely shifted. Suddenly, he claimed he couldn’t understand my English — even though he had no issue communicating with me the first time. He began raising his voice, interrupting me repeatedly, and speaking to me in a very disrespectful way. At one point, he said, “I didn’t let you ask a question. It’s my turn to talk. Do you understand English?” — this was deeply hurtful and humiliating. I felt powerless, disrespected, and started to cry with my 3 kids in his office, not to mention that I had my newborn baby there next to me. He showed no empathy or professionalism, even though I clearly explained that this was one of the hardest times in my life. It felt like he took advantage of my situation as an immigrant who was in financial distress and needed urgent help. Once he got the payment, he wanted to get rid of me. To make things worse, his office is outdated — he refuses to use email for document sharing and demands hard copies only. When I politely asked if I could make copies in his office, he said his copy machine might break. I also feel sorry for his assistant — she seemed kind but was treated with little respect by him. This experience was emotionally painful. I truly hope others, especially immigrants or people in vulnerable financial situations, won’t have to go through what I did. I am now trying to get my money refunded and hope that this review prevents him from treating others the same way.

  I found Marc on the internet, didn't know this man but after I scheduled a meeting with him, I felt at ease. His office girls were very polite and always kept me informed. Any questions I had or thoughts that I put past him. He was very patient & kind with me. I'm glad that he took my case and was with me very step of the way with my Bankruptcy. Thank you Mark & your Staff.

  I give Mark Alster and everyone in his office 5 STARS! Mr. Alster/Mark was patient, explaining everything to me at every step of the process! I had complete confidence in his abilities to help me with my bankruptcy proceedings. I had 2 strokes and could no longer keep up with my debts. It was a last resort for me. Mr. Alster has given me a fresh start in life. Call him ASAP to get on a new track to success!

  **Update 9/23/2025... Everything is finalized and I am so happy and super relieved that all went through, no objections. Again thanks to Marc and his team. I'll remain your client until you retire lol ^_^ I am very very pleased with how I was treated here. Mr. Marc Alster was very thorough addressing and explaining everything he would be doing for me and what I needed to do and take care of. His team is wonderful, no run arounds and they all get things done quickly. I totally recommend The Law Office of Marc G. Alster and will be referring everybody I know.
