- SSStef SlaughterSep 3, 20251.01 star. I scheduled and paid for a consultation expecting a prepared attorney who could provide guidance on a real estate matter. Unfortunately, that is not what I received. The attorney admitted during the meeting that he had not reviewed any of the documents I had emailed beforehand, despite this being a paid appointment. When I asked about a specific statutory definition, he gave an off-the-cuff opinion that contradicted the plain reading of the law. I later confirmed with other attorneys that my interpretation was correct. In the end, his only advice was to consult with a different type of lawyer—advice I could have figured out on my own without paying for a meeting. In my view, this was a waste of both time and money. I expected professionalism, preparation, and accurate legal guidance, and I received none of those things.
