  Donna and her team were an anchor when I unexpectedly needed legal support. They are incredibly knowledgeable in family law and walked me through a high conflict and multi-state litigious experience. As someone who knows nothing about family law, Donna and her team provided guidance, assurance, and I felt protected every step of the way. Donna has a steady approach to difficult situations and she communicates with honesty, support, and a no-nonsense attitude. Her legal guidance was always spot on, and I felt at ease whenever I talked to her during the most tumultuous time of my life. There is no one else I would choose to protect me through litigation in NC, and, should I ever need legal support in that state again I will seek out her counsel immediately.

  I met with Robin Verhoven on 6/25/25 to discuss a motion to modify my child custody agreement. At that meeting, she said she would have a draft to me in 2 to 4 weeks. Roughly 3 weeks later, I emailed her and the Ambler Davis Team and asked if we were still on schedule. After no reply, I emailed 8 days later. No reply. After 5 days, I called and the admin person said she would tell her that I was asking about the status. No reply. I let 35 days pass and email again asking about the status. No reply. Three days later I email to Stop Work and return my retainer. Two days later I receive an apology email and a draft motion. She explained a vacation and COVID happened and that she would finish the motion at no charge. Four days later, I emailed her back with questions. She replied that day! We agreed to meet and discuss my questions, and we did. I had a few more minor questions and let them know I decided to stay with them. Two weeks pass and I email again asking about the finalized motion. No reply. Over 2 more weeks pass with no reply and I email them to Stop Work for good. I never got a complete motion nor answers to the last questions, but they took almost $3000 of mine. I started with high hopes and ended up feeling used. Find somebody else.

  Donna and her team have been absolutely incredible! They are truly special in terms of the relationship they build with their clients. Donna has always been extremely (and at times brutally) honest with me, helping me see things from different possible perspectives in order for us to make logical and rational decisions. Donna invests in you as a person not just a "client". She genuinely cares about how you will function (move on) after your case and is not driven by money (at all!). Another thing that makes her and her legal team special. Donna is not afraid to go toe-to-toe with the best of them and will fight to the mat for you. Her track record as a litigator speaks for itself. However, she is first and foremost, strategic and deliberate. Many people think that "pit bull" type lawyers who talk "tough" are the best route to go. This is completely untrue, especially in family court! Those types of lawyers often mislead/misinform their clients often prolonging procedures and hindering negotiations in order to "perform" in court (which ends up costing thousands and thousands of dollars). This is not Donna. She is extremely savvy and SMART in addition to being ethical and honest...qualities often not found in a family law attorney. This is why she is so effective and highly respected by her colleagues, judges, and other legal professionals in the area. I could not imagine going through the miserable process of divorce and custody without Donna and her team in my corner. Donna is not just an incredible attorney...she is an incredible human.
