Without going into the long, tedius reason I was seeking legal advice- this was my last resort. And I really didn't want to get into a big legal battle with the situation I was in. I was being pressed by family to pursue this and this was the second attorney I had been to (the first attorney made me cry.) I prayed all the way to Fowlerville (an hour and 14 min drive away) that this firm would just be honest and straightforward with me and kind hearted. And let me tell you- Clint unknowingly went above and beyond to provide this relief and advice to me. He didn't know what I had prayed for. In certain instances, child support can be modified. This can include a job loss, a health crisis or a major family change. Payments are ordered and modified via the circuit court. You must file a motion and it must be approved to get a payment modified. Past payments cannot be modified.

In Michigan, alimony is determined by an established set of criteria that considers 12 separate factors. These include the ages of each spouse, their earning capacity, fault and their health.
