- SFShelby FergusonOct 19, 20251.0I would not recommend Deborah. She left us hanging for several days. We had to follow up with her multiple times to get her to have a conversation with us. We finally scheduled a time to speak. She didn’t answer during the scheduled time and then sent us a text saying she couldn’t take our case. When we responded asking if she had any recommendations for a new lawyer, she immediately read our message and didn’t respond. It was very misleading and unprofessional.

Mrs Hawkins listened to my story and once she heard I was a single dad out of state she assured me I was in the right place. After my initial down payment everything changed , she was rude and aggravated during calls , had little knowledge of the case asked for the same things multiple times and impossible to get a hold of. I’ve complained to Illinois bar and highly recommend not using this office.

When she called me back, she literally made fun of me for crying, and started running through all of the cases she had, and had to be in court. I was so embarrassed after being made fun of, I just apologized for crying and ended the call. I'm astonished on how this Attorney intentionally made me feel. She was rude, degrading, and showed NO professionalism!
- HWHK WilsonJun 20, 20191.0Deborah Hawkins is the worst attorney I have ever encountered. Her office is very unorganized and she is not passionate about her clients. It's my perception that Deborah is standoffish to people of color. Everytime I asked her a question for clarity, her demeanor and body language changed as if she was afraid of a black man. She lost my case to a petitioner who didn't even have a lawyer. She started blaming me instead of defending me. I thought lawyers had leverage against someone defending themselves?? Another attorney stated, "that's a lawyers nightmare to lose to someone who isn't represented." When I asked her what went wrong, she acted as if I was bothering her. She got loud with me in the hallway in front of people and walk away. My wife and I were shocked that an attorney who took our money would act this way. This firm will take your money and think nothing of it! Beware.
