Frequently Asked Questions About Kedzie Law Offices, P.C.

What should I do if I'm in an auto accident?

Be sure to take a deep breath and remain calm. If you are injured, seek immediate medical attention. Collect information from the involved parties including name, address, phone number, driver insurance company name and policy, witness statements and their contact information (if applicable), photographs of the scene including the license place of the other driver and the site of the damage. Consider calling the police if it's unclear whether you may have contributed to the accident if there are physical injuries to yourself, the other driver or passengers, or significant damage. When you get home, contact your own insurance company and consider suing the other driver's insurance company.

What should I do if the other driver's insurance company contacts me for a statement?

Insurance companies are not your friend. If you're injured, you should not speak to the other driver's insurance company until you've spoken to a lawyer. They will be looking for ways to minimize your claim. Anything you say can be used against you if you file a claim for your injuries.
