- MFMatt FornerJul 3, 20252.0My family and I were considering working with Mr. Peck and his firm. We had reached the point where contracts were drafted and all that remained was to sign. However, when we asked reasonable questions not addressed in the contract, such as an estimated range for litigation costs, transparency on billing practices (for example, whether we could approve high-expense items over $1,000 and how billing disputes are typically handled), and whether there would be an initial strategy or discovery session, we received a brief two-sentence email stating that we "wouldn’t be a good fit" and should look elsewhere. This response was very disheartening and, in my view, unprofessional. These are standard questions any client should feel comfortable asking before committing to a significant legal retainer and engagement of over $5,000. I am giving the firm two stars because Mr. Peck did take the time to provide a helpful 20-minute initial consultation, and I appreciated his willingness to answer questions at that stage. However, the abrupt dismissal when seeking clarity and transparency ultimately left us with a very negative impression.
