Sean thinks strategically and showed genuine care and concern over my legal issues. Finally, an attorney who was my zealous advocate! Unfortunately, a divorce usually comes during a time that you least expect it. It's not very often that you are well prepared and think, no problem I will hire John or Jane Doe to help me with that need, if that were to happen. You usually find yourself scrambling, asking around if they know of an excellent divorce attorney and if they could make an introduction to them or searching around for someone to hire off the internet to help you out. Working with Steve Lake and his team was something that I treasured. Steve has a unique ability to make you feel calm and that everything is going to work out, but it also takes time. I chose to hire an experienced, boutique law firm & attorney vs. a large law firm in Chicago. My ex-wife chose to hire a larger law firm, I chose experience over size. I believe this decision protected me, my family and my multiple businesses. Matter of fact, when I first met Steve, I shook his hand after our interview (on both sides) and after the meeting I said to him while shaking his hand, "Thank you for working your entire life to protect people like me who have worked extremely hard to get to where I am in life." The boys were kept of reached in China for 15 years. In 2019, after a tip from the National Center for Missing Children, Mr. Lake was able to craft a creative legal strategy to allow my wife to reunite with her sons, just in time before they became legal adults. My wife was able to gain full custody, she was able to seize a property owned by her ex to fund the boys’ education and living expenses. One of the boys is now attending a prestigious university, studying chemical engineering. The other son continues to live with us happily while attending community college, pursuing courses in arts. I have worked with a lot of attorneys in my line of work, and I must say I have NEVER met one with Steve’s creativity, work ethics, responsiveness, and knowledge in his field. Behind his professional demeanor is a person who truly cares about his clients’ legal and emotional needs. He returned our calls often from his vacation, over the weekend, and was attentive to every single little relevant detail of the case.
