We Offer More Than Advocacy.
The issues you face can have a significant impact on your life. So when you’re trying to navigate them, you want to work with people who are equally invested in your success as you are. We can help you thoroughly, carefully and diligently maneuver all kinds of disputes and challenges, including business conflicts, real estate transactions, finding proper elder care for a vulnerable loved one, and helping you navigate the ups and downs of a divorce. Our goal is to help you seek the outcomes you want, and we will do everything we can to assist you in achieving them.
I retained Akin Law, P.A. in August 2025 to assist with several specific legal matters related to my uncle’s long-term care and Medicaid planning. My written request included:
Reviewing and amending a letter I drafted to ensure it was properly written and sent to the correct parties.
Determining who should send it (possibly from the firm) and by what method (certified mail with return receipt).
Drafting a relocation letter to Complex Solutions and The Journey Home for placement in a Medicaid-accepting facility in the Orange Park–Deltona area.
Advising on how to spend down his balance in compliance with Medicaid requirements.
Unfortunately, none of these items were completed or meaningfully addressed.
Between August 8th and September 16th, I sent over seven emails, most of which went unanswered or received only brief confirmation replies. The only substantive discussion occurred on August 20th, when I was advised to “tone down” my letter and divide it into two separate letters for different parties. I was told the firm would revise my letter and return it for review, but no follow-up occurred and the letters were never revised.
I terminated services on September 14, 2025, yet still had to follow up with at least six additional calls and seven more emails before finally receiving a refund on October 22, 2025. During this period, I was never provided with a monthly or itemized statement, despite that being a standard expectation.
When I eventually received my first and only invoice on October 21, I observed charges for questions about my own retainer and consultation. While that may be technically permissible, it felt unnecessary given that no substantive progress resulted from those exchanges. There also appeared to be a duplicate entry dated August 20, though the firm applied a $300 credit, which more than offset that discrepancy.
While Ms. Akin did apologize for the delay, acknowledged that the matter could have been handled differently, and issued the $300 credit, the experience still cost approximately $658 — and, more importantly, a significant amount of time and effort. Attorneys should value a client’s time with the same respect they expect for their own, especially when billing in 1/10-hour increments.
Overall, the lack of responsiveness, incomplete work, and absence of follow-through made this a disappointing experience. Clients deserve clear communication, transparency, and professionalism. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Akin Law, P.A. for those seeking reliable or client-focused legal representation.

I am the Power of Attorney for a lifelong friend who is going through a lot as a victim of a controlling, abusive husband. Akin Law has helped my friend immensely - and Ms. Akin is the "salt of the earth", in my opinion. - Stephanie Sims, FloridaJobLink.com

During a very difficult time in my life Sherri Akin was there for me.
Before and after the passing of my brother I needed her legal assistance. She was able to come to me while my brother was in hospice and again after his passing she was there for me to give more assistance. I had searched for help for two days before I found her. Definitely a Godsend. She was the only lawyer that gave me the time I needed and the personal care I needed during one of the most difficult times in my life. Thank you so much for your reliable, affordable, and personal care.
