  I retained Lento Law Firm in June 2024 for a student dismissal case under what was presented as a “reduced” $15,000 flat fee. What followed was one of the most frustrating professional experiences I’ve had. From the start, this firm showed a complete lack of communication and basic professionalism. My originally assigned attorney left the firm without telling me. I only found out after weeks of no responses and chasing updates myself. No notice, no transition, nothing. Her replacement, Alex Wallenwein, was functionally absent. Getting a response required sending 3–4 follow-up emails over weeks. Absence later evolved into bypassing Wallenwein entirely and contacting Joseph D. Lento (managing partner) just to get a basic case update. That should never be necessary as a paying client. The most frustrating part: I ended up doing a large portion of the drafting myself because of the lack of initiative and direction. After multiple revisions and endless back-and-forth, a year passed with no meaningful result. When I pointed out that this could have been handled in a few months, Wallenwein agreed. It was essentially an admission of how badly this case had been handled. After going through this, the negative feedback about this firm elsewhere makes a lot more sense. For $15,000, this wasn’t just inefficient—it felt like a complete failure in handling the case. The entire experience came across as disorganized, indifferent, and ultimately a complete waste of time and money. I deeply regret hiring this firm. I strongly advise others to think carefully before doing the same.

  This is a follow-up from my last review since my cases have been resolved. I was very pleased with my representation by the Lento Law Firm, specifically by Hearing Advisor Rachel Laubis. I came to the firm late in my case and was assigned Rachel early on. Despite her heavy caseload, it always felt like she gave me an exceptional amount of time, attention, and support throughout the process. Rachel consistently allowed me to participate actively in my hearings and encouraged me to share my input and concerns. During the hearings, she was professional, assertive, and made excellent arguments that went directly to the heart of the matter. My case involved two separate hearings before two different Hearing Officers, and in both, the final judgments were decided in my favor. I credit much of that success to Rachel’s diligence and expertise. I am deeply grateful for Rachel’s help and for the outstanding representation provided by the Lento Law Firm.
