What should have been a straightforward divorce ended up costing thousands more than anticipated and nearly two years of my life. Layton acted without my authorization at a critical moment, creating unnecessary chaos with my ex‑spouse and reigniting conflict after we had verbally agreed to a settlement. There was never any meaningful acknowledgment of the role his actions played in derailing the process—understandable, perhaps, given how serious this misstep was. When I raised these concerns, Layton abruptly dropped my representation with no explanation and very little time for me to determine next steps in an already fragile situation. After I requested and paid what I was told was my final balance, I was shocked to receive an additional bill 2 month later, completely out of nowhere. During our final in‑person meeting to discuss the unexpected charges , while I remained calm, Layton became defensive and hostile, repeatedly telling us to “get out of his office.” This behavior was shocking and deeply unprofessional. His handling of my case showed a complete lack of professionalism, integrity, and basic decency. I strongly warn anyone considering working with him.
