  Warning: Don’t Trust Allstate to Have Your Back When It Matters I’m sharing this as a heads-up for my Northern Virginia neighbors: rethink Allstate if you value your time and sanity. While the local agents are fine, their corporate claims department is a total disaster. Back in October, my brand-new car was rear-ended by a GEICO-insured driver. The repair estimate is under $15k (on a $30k car), but GEICO tried to total it because it hit their $25k policy limit. I filed an underinsured motorist claim with Allstate to bridge the gap and get it fixed at a manufacturer-approved shop. The result? A complete nightmare. The Lowball: Allstate’s adjuster estimated the damage at under $4,000. For a car GEICO was ready to write off! The Ghosting: They’ve gone radio silent, ignoring shop updates for months. The Cost: Our rental coverage is exhausted. GEICO has washed their hands of it. We are now without a car indefinitely because Allstate refuses to act. If you pay for premium coverage, you expect professional service. Instead, I’ve been left high and dry. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere. Check their BBB profile if you need more proof—they aren't even accredited.
