Warning: Avoid Allstate for Claims – Endless Delays and No Resolution!
I wanted to put this out there as a heads-up for anyone shopping for insurance: steer clear of Allstate if you actually expect a timely claims resolution. To be clear, this isn’t about the local agents. They’ve been fine, but the corporate side of the house is a complete disaster.
Back in October, my brand-new car was rear-ended here in Virginia by a GEICO-insured driver. Even though the damage was under $15k and the car is worth nearly $30k, GEICO tried to total it because it hit their $25k policy limit. I filed an underinsured motorist claim with Allstate to bridge that gap and get the car fixed at a manufacturer-approved shop, and it has been a nightmare ever since.
Guess how much Allstate adjuster thinks the damage costs... under $4k. For a car that GEICO tried to total!
For months now, Allstate’s adjusters have done nothing but drag their feet. They’ve gone radio silent, ignoring updates from the shop and leaving me stuck in limbo. We’ve already exhausted our rental coverage, and since GEICO has washed their hands of it, we’re now without a car indefinitely with zero end in sight.
If you value your time and don’t want to be left high and dry when you actually need the coverage you pay for, look elsewhere. I’m hoping this finally lights a fire under someone at corporate to actually do their job and resolve this claim.
If you don't believe me, check BBB. What you will see is...

Great Service ,Highly Recommend Wendy
Wendy's team called me in to review a life insurance policy reaching its term. They told me I could roll it into a new policy with a new term for less than the renewal amount and it would be simple and quick. While we were processing the paperwork I got the bill for my existing policy and they advised me NOT to pay it based on the replacement we were processing. While it was still processing, I got a notice of cancellation on the old policy that said pay or quit. I again asked them about it, they assured me not to pay it because my new policy was almost complete.
The new policy was rejected. My old policy got cancelled. Wendy's team told me to submit a request to get it re-instated and it would "breeze right through". Two months later I got a rejection on the reinstatement later. When I called and demanded answers I was promised it would be resolved in a week.
I've moved all communication to email to they have since continued to promise "they will fix immediately" and then never call me back, never fix the problem. I am now 7 months without the life insurance policy I once had due to their negligence. Fortunately for me this was a backup policy so I will be OK, but YOU may not be so lucky. Avoid at all cost. If they give you advice, get a second opinion.
Wendy Moore has been a pleasure to work with. She's responsive, knowledgeable, and courteous! And I got a lower rate! I'm glad I switched to Allstate!
