I truly wish our agent had been upfront with us from the beginning. We were never informed about a required membership fee, so when we suddenly received a call in May/June asking the main policyholder to pay in order to avoid cancellation, we were caught off guard. She paid the fee—the only one we were told about. At no point did anyone disclose that there was a second membership fee.
Because that second fee was never mentioned or paid, our insurance was apparently cancelled for six months without our knowledge. We received no phone call, no email, no letter notifying us that our policy had been dropped. We only discovered it when we went to register our car and were told we couldn’t—because we weren’t insured.
When we called to request a copy of our policy, the representative cheerfully said she would email it right over. The email never arrived. When we followed up, we learned the truth: we had not had an active policy for six months. This is absolutely terrifying.
To make it worse, the company is now only offering us high-risk insurance at double the cost, and we’re essentially forced to accept it because it’s the day before a holiday. How is this acceptable? We have never had an issue with any other insurance company until now.
We were told that emails were attempted to notify us of the cancellation, but we never received a single one. Oddly enough, we always received every promotional email—client events, giveaways, even pie—but somehow not the ones informing us that our coverage had been cancelled.
This entire experience has been negligent, stressful, and completely unacceptable.
