NOT TO BE TRUSTED!
Initially, I was very happy. They actually answer the phone which for me is a big deal. They actually have local offices that I can visit for a face-to-face, human interaction if I need/want...Another big deal.
The agreed upon pricing was also fair and reasonable. That's why I agreed to it.
The nightmare begins;
Five months into the relationship...my rates went up dramatically! No claims, no tickets, no changes at all. Just a rate hike! Nearly $100/year increase! That is just self-serving!
There are other self-serving paradigms. Such as;
1. I was promised a "gift card" I never received. I'm told that agent is no longer employed there. Okay, I'm not gonna fall on that sword.
2. I was promised paper bills. I'm getting electronic bills. Hey, look, I'm old okay. I tend to push back on most avoidable technologies. I make no apologies for that. Especially when you consider, at my age, cyber crime actively targets seniors. And cyber criminals are way too good at it.
3. I was promised paper ID cards. Not received. I don't want to fumble about with my cell phone to produce an electronic ID card if I'm ever pulled over for driving slow. I'm old!
While it might seem petty to some, for me however, It's another one of those "BIG DEALS". I need to be able to trust people I do business with. Big or small.
I also want to know with WHOM I am doing business. When I was told there are "other" "agents" in the office., I immediately wanted to know their names (first and last). In a business relationship, that doesn't seem unreasonable to me. They became defensive and treated me like I was "violating" their privacy.
Why would an "agent's" full name be a secret? What are they hiding? Who do they think they are protecting? It's just a name. I wasn't asking for personal phone numbers, dates of birth, home addresses or social security numbers.
They want my full name, why shouldn't I ask for their's. IT'S A BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP!
They know way more about me than I will EVER know about them...or even care to know.
I'm not some psycho stalker, I just want to know who I am doing business with. And I have a right to know. It's an age old paradigm. Kinda like the old fashioned handshake. Remember those?
The lead person in this agency chose to admonish me for even asking. Well, I'm retired from my profession and my contributions to society have earned me more respect than that. So if you're going to admonish me...you better have a really good reason
I get that the insurance industry is, by its very nature...a self-serving industry, but being disrespectful to a customer should never be overlooked or be seen as acceptable.
I won't take that kind of disrespect from a true professional why would I take it from some insurance salesman?
I'm sure I'll be admonished for that one too. 😭🍼
Please feel free to insert the following alternatives to keep people from crying:
1) "salesperson" to replace "salesman"
2) "cancelled" to replace "admonished"
