I used to really like Allstate Insurance, but unfortunately, getting things handled has become extremely tedious and frustrating.
I originally started my policy with Allstate because I had a relative who worked there. Everything was handled through email, including my paperwork and signatures, so I never actually had to go into the office.
Over time, my insurance became very expensive. I was paying approximately $545 a month for full coverage on two vehicles. In the past, I called to inquire about the cost of my insurance and was told someone would return my call, but I never received one.
Most recently, the reason I contacted Allstate was because I was having problems with my autopay. Apparently, my autopay had been canceled, and I was trying to find out what happened and get this issue resolved.
On August 21, I stopped at the Allstate location on the corner of Montana and S. Gateway because it was on my way home. The ladies there were very nice and genuinely tried to assist me. Unfortunately, because I had not originally started my policy through their office, there was only so much they could do.
I then contacted the Transmountain location regarding the autopay issue. During that conversation, I was given information that contradicted something that had already been confirmed to me. I was even told that the previous information "should not have been said." I was told I would receive a call back so the issue could be addressed.
Today is September 19, and I am still waiting for that call. More importantly, the autopay issue that I originally called about was never resolved.
I also reached out to Allstate customer service trying to get assistance, but unfortunately, I still wasn't able to get the issue properly resolved.
At that point, I decided to take my business elsewhere. I switched to GEICO and was able to insure four vehicles for approximately $614 a month.
For me, this wasn't just only about the price. It was about the difficulty of getting a relatively basic issue resolved and the repeated lack of follow-through. When a customer calls it should be taken seriously—In this case especially when the customer is actively trying to make sure their insurance is paid correctly and timely matter.
I had been happy with Allstate in the past, which makes this experience even more disappointing. I do want to acknowledge the lady at the Montana and S. Gateway location because they were very nice and genuinely tried to help me. Unfortunately, the overall lack of communication and the unresolved autopay issue ultimately led me to take my business elsewhere.
