Long story short, I switched to Progressive for auto and I’m paying almost HALF of what I paid at Allstate for the exact same coverage…
Long story… Almost 11 years with Allstate with no claims, 11 years. Move to Florida October 2024, everything we were told said that it transferred, got our cards and everything. February 2025 we get a $1,100 bill from them saying it’s due or you’re dropped. Called Mark’s office, they had no idea who I was, even Mark himself said that to me. He said it’s never happen where he’s never been notified. Talked to one of his reps that told me to pay the bill or we are dropped (didn’t say anything about collections). No attempt was made by email, phone call, mail, nothing until we saw that bill. 5 months… nothing.
After several hours of phone calls with Marks office and the main Allstate customer service. We settled, pay $590 and you’re good. I was told this by one of Marks reps. I pay it….
April 2025 I get a collection notice in the mail for the remaining amount. Several more hours of phone calls between mark and the main Allstate customer service, Mark emails me that he’s taking no responsibility and it’s my fault, I have to deal with it through the main Allstate customer service. Thanks for your help 👍
Talk to customer service on April 15th after everything, they say it’s going to get sent up upper management to listen to the phone calls because what I was told is not what’s happening. They told me I would have an update April 30th.
May 9th comes, nothing still, so I start the several hours of phone calls again to see what’s going on. They say there’s nothing on file for me so they have to submit another request to upper management. My god!! Fine, do whatever it takes, I have no choice but to play this game, right?
Today I get an email they have been trying to call me (I don’t have a single call from them) and to call them back. They don’t give me a specific number so I have to call and work through all the phone trees, which none have a direct way to get through it so I can get any answers. 40 minutes later I talk to a rep, that reads to me that I have to pay the remaining amount or it will be sent to collections (which it already has been).
By the way, about halfway through all this I wanted to record the calls, maybe I missed something so I can go back and listen or I have my own evidence…. They told me they are not allowed to say anything while I record. But they can record everything single phone call. Says a lot.
After almost 11 years, no claims, over paying for insurance (many other insurances are cheaper, but I wanted to be in “good hands”) THIS is what I deserve in their eyes.
I rather have no insurance than ever deal with Allstate again. Mark and his team, which supposedly are MY agents, did NOTHING to help me, they only lied and put me in a worse position.
Switched to Progressive (paying half of what I paid for Allstate anyway) and got the exact same coverage.
I know they will respond to this and make it seem like they are not in the wrong at all, nor take any responsibility for this. Remember, where’s there’s smoke, there’s fire.
