In May 2024, my property was damaged, and I filed a claim with Allstate. From the start, I did everything required: submitted photos, evidence, and a sworn proof of loss.
What followed was a 15-month nightmare: seven different estimates, minimal payments with no explanation, letters with false information, and long periods of silence. I was forced to hire a public adjuster and an independent appraiser, spending over $7,500 out of my own pocket just to get Allstate to finally acknowledge what should have been covered from the beginning: the full replacement of my roof and other necessary repairs.
Although they eventually paid, including interest, the stress, wasted time, and extra costs were enormous. I’m sharing my experience so that other policyholders stay alert and to demand that companies like Allstate treat their customers with transparency and good faith.
I’m sharing this experience not just for myself, but to highlight a broader issue in the insurance industry: the need for accountability, transparency, and good faith practices in claim handling. Policyholders deserve timely, fair, and honest treatment — without having to fight for what their policy already guarantees.
