  I've found that the agents in the office are pleasant and helpful enough so I'll put in one extra star for that. But what gets me is that year after year Allstate had ratcheted up my quite elderly mom's auto insurance premiums to rather ridiculous levels. When I say ridiculous I mean I just don't know how they keep any customers. Unless maybe they only do that to old widowed ladies figuring they won't bother to look into switching? Today we just switched coverage to another major carrier who offered us slightly better auto coverage at almost half the premium Allstate was charging and also saved us about 10% on the home insurance premium. A total savings of about $1000 a year. I'll just say thank God we have found some "good neighbors" to help us! Also about 18 months ago the Allstate adjuster dug her heels in and refused to replace the roof which had moderate hail damage, even getting into a shouting match with the roofing contractor who had inspected the roof for us. The contractor was the nicest guy, it was the adjuster was the one who became belligerent and started the shouting. We ended up getting a chintzy settlement for a few gutter/downspout/screen dings and a repaint job for a ceiling stain. So much for being in "good hands". We would have looked into switching carriers right after that debacle, but my uncle had coincidentally gotten very ill at that time and he eventually passed away and we were quite distracted the past year dealing with his health issues and estate.

  It's always very easy to make changes to our policies. The office is very friendly and efficient.

  Received an advertisement in the mail for homeowners' insurance. Thought I'd call and get a quote since it's been 4 years since I've compared coverages. The gentleman I talked to on the phone was nice but the price of the insurance was over 3 times what was quoted on the ad ($2507 compared to $835). We need to have better truth in advertising.
