I’m extremely upset and disappointed with the service I received from State Farm.
I called to ask how the cancellation process worked and was told all I needed to do was send an email stating my reason for cancellation and the effective cancellation date. I followed those exact instructions. I emailed Nicole at State Farm explaining that I had switched my coverage to Allstate and requested that my policy be cancelled effective 2/21/26. I had just paid $350 on 2/18/26, and since I had already enrolled with new insurance, I expected to be reimbursed for most of that payment.
After sending the email exactly as instructed, I assumed everything was taken care of. However, when I later checked my inbox, I saw a “View Your Bill” email from State Farm showing that my policy had not been cancelled as requested.
I also later noticed another email that had been sent the same day asking me to reply with “Please cancel.” I never saw this because I had already sent a confirmation email requesting cancellation with the effective date and reason. At no point during my phone call was I told that I would need to send multiple confirmation emails or repeat the request in a specific wording.
Because of this lack of communication and follow-through:
• My policy was not cancelled when I requested
• I did not receive the reimbursement I should have
• No one reached out to follow up or clarify anything
It’s incredibly frustrating that after following the instructions I was given, I’m now stuck paying for two insurance policies. This situation has put me in a financial bind and will likely cause me to fall behind on several bills over the next couple of months.
Very dissatisfied with the lack of communication, accountability, and customer care. I expected a much more professional experience.

This team is very well rounded and beyond professional! As someone who hasnt known much about insurance Nikky (Nicole) and her team were able to get me a great rate for both my home and my auto insurance. Very happy with the service that was provided and will continue to keep coming back. Would recommend everyone else give them a call to see what they can do for you. Thank you again!
