It doesn't matter how great the local office is when Allstate's adjusters do everything they can to not pay a fair settlement if you have to file a claim. Allstate's adjusters blatantly violated the law repeatedly and I am not alone in the way I have been dealt with. I joined a Facebook group for fire survivors and every single person who has Allstate insurance has been screwed over by them. Some of the things Allstate did to me during the claims process are: 1. The structure adjuster low balled his estimate by about $100,000! 2. The structure adjuster threatened restoration contractors by telling them that if they didn't write up an estimate and scope of work in line with his that he would ruin their reputation. I had seven different contractors tell me that they wanted the job, but after talking to the adjuster, they backed out. They told me that there was no way that my house could be restored for anywhere near as low as his estimate was. They didn't want to risk their reputation and they didn't want to have to fight him. Every single one said that he is the worst adjuster they have ever encountered. I was finally able to get an estimate from a contractor by forbidding the adjuster from talking directly to them so that he couldn't threaten them. 3. The structure adjuster over depreciated almost everything. He refused to fix the amounts even after I gave him receipts. My house had been remodeled not long before the fire. He depreciated things 75 to 90 percent when they should have been depreciated 5 to 10 percent. 4. He under calculated the square footage of the entire house. He didn't include the space taken up by kitchen cupboards, bathtubs, etc. That's fine for calculating flooring, but not subfloors, electrical, insulation, siding, etc. He didn't calculate the vaulted ceilings in half the house. He made all sorts of math errors like calculating 2 ceiling lights with three can lights in each one, and coming up with 5 can lights, not 6. He left things out entirely, like carpet padding and the central air. 5. The ALE adjuster refused to provide temporary housing that met my needs related to a disability, despite my providing letters from two different health care providers stating that the reasonable accommodation was vital to me. I only managed to stay in that temporary housing for about three months before it seriously harmed my health. 6. Moving expenses are supposed to be reimbursed by ALE coverage, but Allstate is refusing to reimburse me for them. I have requested that it be reviewed and escalated to upper management, but have never received any response. I have sufficient funds left in ALE. 7. The personal property adjuster left out about half of my belongings. I would send her a list of what was missing and she would add some, but delete some items that had previously been included. 8.She changed almost every single item to an inferior product. It didn't matter if the item was still available on the market or not. Linen napkins from Pottery Barn were substituted with polyester ones from Walmart. A high quality mattress was substituted with a $153 mattress from Amazon. The refrigerator was substituted with a dorm size mini fridge. An antique secretary desk was substituted with a $49 flat pack, fake wood desk. An $89 shirt from a boutique shop was substituted with a $4 spool of thread. A $500 rare out of print book was substituted with a $3.49 board book from Walmart. Hand-knit, wool Christmas stockings from Sundance Catalog were substituted with cheap acrylic stockings from Amazon. 9. She depreciated every single thing far too much, not using accepted industry guidelines. She depreciated a lot of things right down to $0, even things that were brand new and still in sealed packaging. 10. Allstate delayed payments. Every single check except for one "got lost in the mail" and had to be reissued. Some checks had to be reissued three or four times. They would send them to the wrong address, not the one on file. They would make them out to the wrong person. Switch companies now!

I dislike their customer service; despite multiple calls and emails about my missing property insurance on my account, the issue persisted. To my surprise, they increased the premium by over 50% at renewal, citing inflation despite no claims or significant events.
