  I had 6 policies with Peterson Insurance Services; you would think when I have a question I could get a call back. In the beginning they were fine, but recently they have been frustrating. A few weeks ago I left a couple of voice messages, and after several days I received an email, which was a half-hearted answer to my question. In the end they didn't follow through with the guidance they gave me. I have since changed local agents, and it has been a night and day difference.

  Nobody ever seems to answer the phone, been calling for ten days now trying to add a vehicle to my policy. Ended up having to use the generic Allstate phone system, kind of defeats the purpose of having a local agent. The last interaction I had somebody changed my garaged show car's mileage to 12,000 miles a year from 2,000 without asking me. I already have several other vehicles so I don't know how they figure I'm driving 4 of them 12,000 miles a year. I miss my old Allstate agency dearly after a year with Peterson.

  I went to Jen when Gieco wanted to more than double my rate for swapping a vehicle. She kept my rate the same and helped to combine my home owners as well. She is always there to answer any question I have. Thanks Jen.

  If honesty, integrity and great customer service is NOT important to you, then Petersen Insurance may be a good choice for you as an agency. These things, however, are very important to me, which is why I left Petersen and chose another local agent. My family has used Allstate Insurance for many years and had been very happy with both Allstate and our Allstate agent that we had been with since the beginning, before moving to Boise. I've been continually disappointed and frustrated with Petersen. They seem to have been going through some internal issues, both with the staff they've hired and their faulty phone system. They almost never answer the phone, and it's nearly impossible to even leave a message on that system. When I was able to get through to a live person, I was handed off to someone new each time. When I requested to make changes on one of our policies, the person who made the change neglected to put it back on auto pay, which we've always used. This mistake caused our account to be on the verge of being cancelled, and we were stuck with close to a $500 bill because of it. One of the new hires at Petersen admitted this had happened and said that she would cover this bill for us and that she could switch us from Allstate to another insurance provider and that she could save us money. I let her know that we were happy with Allstate, but not Petersen, and that we would stay if she would uphold her promise to have Petersen cover their mistake. Soon after that, she told me that she had sent me an email saying that Petersen wasn't going to help with the bill. I never got the email, even after requesting it daily for more than a week. Then, I wanted to give Petersen one last chance to retain my business, so I called and asked for the manager. I left a message for him and asked him to return my call and never heard back from him.
