Premium nearly doubled after losing about $22k out of pocket during Helene. Still have another $5-10K out of pocket to pay for insulation in attic and crawlspace, water warped hardwoods, skylights, and proper gutters. Paying way too much for a driver with with no accidents for 53+ years and a car worth $2000 and no collision and comprehensive. Rick Kienzle

Allstate was there for me when Hurricane Helen knocked my fence down and replaced my roof from her damage.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! YOU ARE NOT IN GOOD HANDS!! They will overcharge you on your premiums and then deny legitimate claims. One way they will inflate your premium is by embellishing the specifications of your insured property. It is ironic how the "errors" they make on the specs always seem to benefit them resulting in a higher premium. I'm an auto wreck attorney and can tell you from personal experience that Allstate refuses to pay fair value for auto claims and makes you sue them and spend years litigating while they keep and make money on your money. You had better hope you never have to make a claim against your own policy because you will regret choosing Allstate. I made a claim for hail damage to my roof which they, of course, denied after sending some creep to my house masquerading as a damage appraiser who I later discovered had gone through my home videotaping my things which had nothing to do with the roof since it did not leak and cause damage to the contents that this creep spied on for the company--what an egregious invasion of privacy. I had to replace the roof myself no thanks to Allstate. When it came time to renew my homeowner policy, I made them aware of the new roof assuming it would result in a premium decrease. I sent them a copy of the paid invoice, but that was not good enough, so I had to jump through hoops and inconvenience my roofer. They will assume you are lying to them and give you busy work in hopes that you will give up and pay the higher premium. I still do not know how the new roof will affect my premium because as you will read below, now they are refusing to communicate with me. They will also refuse to assist you with their products like Drivewise, which monitors and provides rewards in the form of a refund of a percentage of your policy premium for safe driving, and they will hold your Drivewise rewards hostage. The app will notify you that you earned a refund reward, but then it will take them months to give you your reward, that is unless you call and complaint that it should be deposited in your bank account from which they withdrew the premium immediately upon notification of the reward. Isn't it funny how they want their premium paid on time, but when it comes to refunding the portion of the premium earned on Drivewise, they make you wait as long as they can so they can earn as much interest as possible on your money. Recently, my Drivewise app stopped working apparently because they no longer support the operating system on my phone. I can't afford to go out and buy the latest greatest smart phone every time the app (which is slow and cumbersome during normal operation) requires you way too frequently to update. When I called this agency for assistance, they referred me to someone else. When I called the number provided, I reached some agent in the Philippines. Because of the language barrier, these customer "service" representatives in the Philippines repeat everything you say such that the conversation takes twice as long as it should. After getting nowhere with this agent, I asked to speak with her supervisor and was told he was unavailable but would return the call in an hour or so. I never received a return call. I called back and requested an American representative which I got, but they could not help me and referred me to another department. When I called that department, I had to play twenty questions with a robot, so I started dialing "0" for an operator. The robot said they could not hear my response and disconnected the call. After wasting hours speaking with incompetent people and robots getting nowhere, I called this agency back and implored them to help. Because I expressed my dissatisfaction with their sending me on a wild goose chase and refusing to help me, together with all the other problems I'm having with them, they basically blamed me for their ineptitude and hung up on me. If you have issues, good luck getting them resolved because you will be on your own with no help. There is zero accountability here.
