  If you are in the market for a new Homeowners Insurance Policy, PLEASE use another agency. My girlfriend and I went through Hillegass, Wilson & Cowan and after submission she noticed an incorrect amount on our policy and asked for the charge to be removed. For clarity, this was a charge of $27 extra but at the end of the day every dollar counts in this economy. She brought this up to the agent and he agreed this was HIS mistake but he refused to take it off the policy. He would only agree to lower the amount to a smaller charge... My girlfriend works in the insurance industry mind you, and couldn't understand why he would not remove the charge and would only lower it which the agent responded “ This policy is only $250 so I’m only making $25 in commission on it” So since we weren't going to make him rich today he wanted nothing to do with us. After us clearly being unhappy about this for the simple sake of principle, he told her "If you aren't happy, cancel the policy." which is ultimately what we plan to do. Just because we are pennies today does not mean we will not be dollars tomorrow. Insurance is all about relationship building. If you did not want to write our policy, you didn't have too... This entire experience made us just feel like a dollar sign.. and funny enough, a dollar sign that wasn't big enough to care about!

  I have home owners insurance as well as dwelling on a second property. Had problems with followup on 2nd property, ended up being canceled. Trying to get a quote for a condo and they don't return either of my calls. Went with Farmers.
