  Go with the cheap name insurance, even if you have property coverage they will toss you coins for your loss. Nothing worse than dealing with Allstate. Their claims department NEVER answers their phone, it took me like 2-3 weeks to reach the person and then they close out the claim without communicating with you, all based on what little detail they can get from your messages or short conversations when you actually get to talk to them. Not only that, but they changed claim handlers 4 times so fast I had no idea who I was talking to anymore. I was very modest about my valuable items costs and Allstate just wanted to marginalize every bit they possibly could beyond that. I was so patient and kind to them, and in the end this is how you will feel. It's not worth getting your insurance with a big name company like Allstate... it's all a big name and big face. One day you'll see what I mean if you actually need to use your insurance. It already sucks, and then when you finally think you shouldn't feel so awful about your loss... just wait for Allstate to toss you some chump change. Next month I'll end my...10 years? with Allstate. I can tell you now that getting extra coverage doesn't mean crap with Allstate. If you have valuable stuff, spend more money on security and get the cheap name insurance. You'll never replace what you lost with Allstate. They give a fraction of what you had, then you have to buy it again and pay tax again, and then with what little money Allstate gave you... YOU GET TO PAY A TON OF TAXES TO THE GOVERNMENT ON IT. Lesson: Get more security and don't bother paying Allstate for extra insurance just because you have valuable stuff. They will have you jump through a million hoops like they made me do... they really make it into a circus trying to process claims and you'll be the last to know what a joke it is. I am at about a $5k+ loss and got a $900 check after a few months... I threw the check away and told my claims handler to take the money and find an honest company to work for. I hope you guys enjoyed the 10 years of making money on me. Turns out you never had my back.
