Was initially quoted a competitive insurance rate, and used Allstate for one year. However, upon renewal, rates went up significantly with no accidents or claims or changes. Homeowner's insurance increased by 28%, and their solution to keep the rate competitive was to decrease coverage or double the deductible. I'm choosing another insurance provider.

For context, I'm buying a house and called 5 insurance companies yesterday for quotes on homeowners insurance to compare with my spouse when he got home from work. USAA, GEICO, and State Farm were easy 20 minute calls before I had their quotes in my email. Interga wants me to fill out a 4 page form and take a day to process before talking. Anderson Agency was a nightmare. I've had less bullying and pressure sale tactics from car salesmen. First off, I did not realize they're a front for Allstate because that is not anywhere obvious on their website (not to mention it's a little weird they have a google review from a sales employee, Josiah Steele, on there although that might be auto generated) The representative started off asking what I was looking for in an insurance company besides saving. I humored him and said customer service just to get going with getting to the quote. Without asking he started pulling my vehicles information to do a bundle since it'd be "better savings" but agreed to send a quote without that too. He tried to strong arm me into a low personal belongings coverage value (2/3 lower than what the other insurances did) without asking any questions on if I owned high value items but agreed to send a quote matching what the others did too. He told me a number and asked how it compared to the others I talked to. I have a hard time visualizing numbers in my head (another reason for the emailed quotes) so I just said that it seemed comparable to try to wrap up the conversation as I'd been on the phone with him for over 40 minutes at this point. He seemed insulted and insisted that their prices are typically significantly lower. He then asked something to the effect of how I wanted to open the account with them today and I reminded him that I was just there for a quote. He asked if he could schedule a follow-up with me and as I was frustrated by this point I was likely a bit blunt when I said no, I'd rather be the one to reach out. He said I was being rude, so I thanked him for his time and hung up. I'm not surprised I didn't get an email (one of the first pieces of information he got from me so he had it) with the quotes but even if they did have a better rate, I wouldn't be going with them after this interaction.

Do yourself a favor and go anywhere but allstate. They placed GAP insurance on the paid off vehicle rather than the one with a lein, have taken 6 weeks so far to pay the settlement amount, yet only given us a rental vehicle for 1 week although our policy states 30 days because there is fine print saying you only get it for 7 days upon totalling a vehicle (even though they won't clear the claim in 7 days), and now have my wife and I taking turns skipping work since I work in anchorage and she works in meadow lakes and we are down to 1 vehicle...
