First. I need to be clear that this place has friendly staff. This has nothing to do with the people that work there. This one star is to do with the overall company and inability to serve their customers.
With the changing landscape of the insurance industry and a few players leaving the province, AMA is struggling with customer service. I assume the business volume has increased dramatically but I don’t know if the staffing and people are being expanded to keep up (my guess is no)
I think it’s reasonable that when I have insurance through a company and when I pay a fee to be a member it’s fair to think whether I call or show up for a walk in appt, the wait time isn’t 3 hours regardless of the channel.
Even when I try to book an appt everyone is booked 2-3 weeks out. How the heck am I supposed to get my needs met when I simply can’t find anyone to talk to?
More infuriating, is how the branches are setup. Folks at the front desk cannot book you an appt with an insurance advisor. People that work 10 feet away from them. You have to go online. Simply a joke and a terrible customer experience. To top it off, you can’t make appts on saturdays so good luck getting something if you work full time during the week.
It seems that AMA is simply getting more money from the additional insurance customers but unable to staff to properly meet demand. The balance isn’t there.
I’ve been with AMA since I was 16. I’m 41 now. Looks like this week I’ll be switching over to Cooperators this week. At least i can talk to someone easily and without waiting.
Hopefully AMA can get to the place it once was. It wasn’t always this way

I wanted to purchase car insurance and I called on their number and was on hold for more than an hour for three days continuously. They never answer and when I went to book an appointment all of them were already booked.
Worst customer service ever

I chose an insurance policy with AMA over another company's quote with a similar pricing after experiencing some of the best customer service with Onai A. I felt that she genuinely cared about my concerns and helped to alleviate them, providing clarifications. Greatly appreciate her doing a great job and leaving an awesome impression about AMA Insurance!

AMA has the worst customer policy, especially more so when it comes with billing.
Literally ready to pay the bill, but had to wait for over an hour only for them to inform me that I couldn't do it manually with them since it's taken out automatically from my bank account.
The bank can be slow and you never know when it could be taken out of your account. The slowness can be an excruciating psychological wait. Imagine waiting up to 7 business days after the date that was agreed upon, more so if you have limited funds to work with during that time.
I don't blame the customer service mind you. They did as well as they could since they have to navigate and manage whatever policy the company, bank and insurance regulations spewed out, then reiterate it back to their customers.
Unless you have no choice whatsoever, I recommend steering clear away from them. This was only one instance. There were many more that caused migraines. It's just that this was the last straw.
Until they apply a more customer centric policy, this review will stay. I only wish I could give a review of zero; severely disappointed.

Forever on hold… imagine it’s 2025 and you can’t implement a call back service like every other company that is “busy” … Ridiculous. And the audio while waiting… 0 stars
