Cashiers need to tell customers when a clearance item is not returnable, not just rely on the tiny fine print. I bought multiple items not knowing which my wife would want, I tried to return the unwanted items and now I can’t return any of them because I didn’t see the tiny fine print.

For a few years now, I've felt that Hobby Lobby's return policy has been quite antiquated.
They have stopped asking for a drivers license for a return with a receipt, so I suppose that's a small step forward.
I'll attempt to keep this as short as possible, but my overarching feedback is that the Janesville's Hobby Lobby really needs to train their front end support and assistant managers more diligently.
My scenario: I needed Christmas lights for a project with a deadline, Janesville did not have any in stock, I ordered online, the delivery did not make it in the timeframe needed, I drove to Rockford to get the lights, then the online order showed up a few days later.
Yesterday I went into the Janesville location to return my online item and was met with a not so friendly front end support person.
It was apparent that this person was taking the scenario personally and was quite cold.
She expressed no empathy nor any attempt to find a resolution.
Her response to my situation was to pull out her big book of policies and recite back to me that online returns made in store would only result in store credit or cash back.
I think this a huge miss, as Hobby Lobby doesn't seem to be accounting for business owners/employees that are responsible for Pcard reconciliation, transaction for transaction.
I can't put store credit/cash back on my credit card...and I had proof of purchase.
The other frustration I had was this young lady called up her manager and that person also offered no solution.
She stated that I would get $10 back on my return. That baffled me. Then I let her know I did have the receipt. Her response then went to the same policy reverberation.
I also didn't understand why I couldn't return something I no longer needed to a store, when I already bought the same thing at another store in the company.
They still have their money.
It would be a good idea for Hobby Lobby to revamp their policy, allowing customers to return online items to stores, like MANY other retailers do.
Make it EASY for customers to do business with them.
I'd think with their $7 to $8 billion in annual revenue, they can afford some restructuring.
