- RMriley mortonNov 14, 20251.0OVER $6K LOST IN THEFT. My unit was the target of theft in 2025, and they stole over $8k worth of gear and the collectibles that were easy to sell. Devastated, i was grateful that i paid for the insurance when i checked in, but turns out, they only covered $2k, as per the paperwork i signed (on move in day, with 2 people waiting behind me while i read the small print). Extra Space Storage has been uniquely unhelpful since the theft - showing no interest in using the (obviously too few in number) security cameras that they have in place to help catch the thief. When i filed the police report, they said they weren't surprised. My recommendation? take your business to a facility that takes security MUCH more seriously, and if the worst happens, will actually try to help you rectify the situation. Extra Space did none of this.
