Dirty, Wet Storage, Lies and Rats (My experience with Prime Storage)
Why does a facility need to hose down the ground every single day?
I used Prime Storage for about 6 months and only came a few times in the evening.
In December, I went to my storage unit that is located directly in front of the office and noticed that all of my boxes on the ground were wet. At this time, it had rained all week so the staff blamed the water on the weather. I planned to get everything out and told them so via email.
Because it was December and we had the huge power outage then the holidays, I couldn't get my items out before January.
After getting an invoice that was full price for February, I attempted to get the discount they had offered when I spoke to them about the issue in December.
I was told they could only do 10% when I was previously offered 50% for my damaged items. When I told them this, they said I was incorrect.
At this point, I'm done and went to the storage facility to get my things.
First, the staff member tried to verbally tell me they had never offered me a discount until I showed them the email, proving they had.
Prime Storage is VERY good at what they do. When my items got wet because of their facility, they said that the issue was because of the rain and acted like it wasn't a big deal. They offered me a temporary tiny unit as we are standing amongst way more things than a tiny unit can fit.
I listened to my gut and started getting my items out. My storage unit was filled with dirt and dried pine needles. There was so much that I had to come back with a broom.
After sweeping, there was a chunk that wouldn't move on the ground that I thought was dirt so I pushed it.
I unfortunately used my bare hand and did touch a deceased rat that had to have been hiding under the door in front of my unit. Luckily it was mostly decomposed but its where the rope is, so who knows how many times I got it on my hands while moving and when I previously came.
Prime Storage has a lot of units with bottoms that don't shut all the way. This is why there is a black/metal strip under the doors. You can see little bits chewed off the metal rubber ones and the metal ones were bent. None of the doors look the same because they clearly don't want to pay to upgrade them and provide the safety our storage deserves.
My Storage unit was bent on both ends by the wall and in the middle. The middle bent is where the rat was.
On the ends of the unit is where it was open to outside. Because Prime Storage hoses the ground every day, (I can only assume for their rodent problem) they got water all inside my unit. You can see where the soapy water dried on the ground on both sides
Because there is a giant pine tree outside the building, every day they would hose dirt and pine needles into my storage. They clearly stopped after I complained in December and I wonder if thats why the rat was in front my unit.
Prime Storage KNOWS they are watering into units and instead of admitting the truth to me, they lied and blamed it on the weather. Prime Storage knows the issues with their doors, but they don't make the necessary updates.
Why would a storage unit that makes no attempt to update anything else on site hose the ground every day in winter? Because they have a rodent problem. And instead of getting cats, they water every day.
I am providing a picture of my unit with the bent bottoms, the dirt all over my unit, the dried water stain, the rat that I touched with my hand, and other units with broken bottoms that appear to be chewed off.
Shame on you Prime Storage, I will make sure as many people as possible know about your facility.
