Peninsula Hardwood Mulch, Inc. was founded by Larry and Anna Wilson in September 1987. We started on route 17 in Yorktown, at which time we did lawn care. In 1990 we started the tree care service and moved to our current location in Yorktown on Lakeside Drive. In 1991 we started making our own topsoil at our new location. 1996 was a busy year for us, as we purchased the property formally know as Sheldon Lumber. This added to our already expanding Yorktown location. By purchasing Sheldon Lumber, we were now able to start processing our own mulch! In 1996 we started to phase out of the lawn care and tree care services because we felt it was unfair to compete with our wholesale customers. In this time the Wilson's had realized that their passion was mulch, topsoil and plants to say the least. And in 2019 we opened our newest location in Gloucester.

Every year they send us a notice that they are scheduling mulch deliveries. We call, pay over the phone and on the scheduled day, a truck is backing down our driveway, dropping off a truckload of mulch. So easy. Again. My compliments to your driver. We have a very narrow entrance to our driveway with trees, a mailbox and some lawn ornaments. It does not seem to be a problem for him at all, though. He has hit this tarp we put out directly center every year without running over anything else. We look forward to seeing you next year!

- TVTy in VADec 28, 20221.0They don't open till 8... I went in, and the 2 girls looked bothered by me just walking in. They definitely didn't want to work. Then I asked for 4 yards of brown walnut. The girl said which kind. The good stuff for 50 something dollars a yard or the other stuff for cheaper. Then I asked about the contractors price, and she said she needed my business license. I just walked out and went to lawn ventures... they only have good quality mulch for 20 dollars a yard cheaper. And they honor your business. They actually want to do work and want your business. I will never be disrespected by this place again
