It's a transponder key, so not only does the cut have to duplicate the original, but the electronic signals between the car and the new key also have to match, or else the ignition will be disabled. Well, not only did the new key work flawlessly in the ignition, but also in two locks that my old key had ceased to work in: the passenger door and the tailgate. So my old key is now the spare. I'm kind of regretting not taking the option to purchase a second key at a discounted rate. (You have to make that selection when you make your initial purchase.) Overall: this is a great service.
